Speakers: Dana Tokioka (Vice President, Special Projects – Atlas Insurance Agency) and Colbert Matsumoto (Founder and Past Chairman – Tradewind Capital Group)
Dana Tokioka serves as vice president of special project at Atlas Insurance Agency. Since joining Atlas in 2010, she has spearheaded numerous initiatives, transforming the business and helping Atlas become a nationally ranked top 100 independent agency. She’s developed multiple IT initiatives, established financial reporting metrics, and engineered risk programs for financial institutions and other business enterprises.
Ms. Tokioka previously practiced real estate and corporate law in California, representing numerous technology companies. She also worked for Booz Allen Hamilton as an economic business analyst to perform economic and cost analysis for IT systems and strategized financial and programmatic assessments for the U.S. Army.
Ms. Tokioka is a graduate of Tufts University with a bachelor of arts degree, cum laude, in history. She received her M.B.A. from the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University and her Juris Doctor from the Georgetown University Law Center.
Ms. Tokioka is a dedicated supporter of the Hawaii nonprofit community. She currently is the president of Island Holdings’ two foundations, Island Insurance Foundation and Atlas Insurance Agency Foundation, which support over 120 nonprofits annually. She also currently serves on the Board of the Pacific Asian Center for Entrepreneurship at the UH Mānoa Shidler College of Business. She previously served as a member of the Board of Directors of Tradewind Capital Group, a Hawaii-based investment firm focused on real estate and private equity opportunities, as a board member of IC international, a surplus lines insurance broker, as the board chair of the YWCA Honolulu and on the boards of Hawaii Theatre and Hawaii Imin Shiryo Hozon Kai.
Colbert Matsumoto is the Chair of Tradewind Group. He previously served as Chairman & President of Tradewind Capital and Chairman & CEO of Island Insurance Company. Prior to joining Island Insurance, Mr. Matsumoto was engaged in the private practice of law for 20 years.
Mr. Matsumoto has been actively involved in leadership roles with various corporate, civic, and non-profit organizations, Current and past boards on which he has served include: Central Pacific Bank; City Bank; Densho; Hawaii Employees Retirement System; Hawaii Pacific Health; Hawaii Gas; Hawaiian Host, Inc.; JACL Honolulu; Japanese American National Museum; Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii; Oahu Publications, Inc.; Sutter Health Pacific; and the U.S.-Japan Council.
Mr. Matsumoto is a graduate of Lanai High School. He attended the University of San Francisco where he received his bachelor’s degree before receiving his juris doctorate from the University of California Berkeley School of Law.
